Vinted Shoppers Express Displeasure Regarding Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches similar services.
The platform has recommended to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Updates
Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Manual Updates
A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
