Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film debuted, launching Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but leaving viewers wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
The preview reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and helping giveaway items find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge pinned to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the toys.
