It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

It needed until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's challenging for their hitters to hold a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Finally, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to create her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

Whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Many contend the argument supporting championship match pressure. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this innings followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it has been a disappointing period because it appeared my form was missing completely," said Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts activate and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and after that Healy was on her way.

"A chance to take the field and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was out Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the belief to do that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if we do, we believe we can achieve it."

Those words will be the final thing competing nations at this World Cup should hear.

In recent days a belief they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this success succeeding success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So great is her will, she later said she regretted not playing through the pain.

Yet even as she later admitted those injuries have postponed plans to retire, this tournament is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is yet to win a global event as skipper.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
